A driver was killed Monday night after going off the road near Northeast 63rd Street and North Anderson Road in northeast Oklahoma City, according to police.
The single-car crash happened just before 10 p.m. Sept. 7, News 9 reported. Oklahoma City police and firefighters both responded. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
No passengers were in the vehicle.
The Oklahoma City Police Department has not released the driver's name or any details about what caused the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
The fatality is at least the fourth deadly crash in the Oklahoma City metro area over the Labor Day holiday period. An e-bike rider was killed in Del City on Sept. 4, near Southeast 24th Street and South Sunnylane Road. On Sept. 5, a driver died after striking a freight train on Interstate 35 near Southeast 15th Street. That same day, a pedestrian was killed near South Shartel Avenue and Southwest 59th Street around 2:30 a.m.

The string of fatal crashes comes at the close of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, which ran in Oklahoma from Aug. 19 through Sept. 7. The campaign included DUI saturation patrols and checkpoints statewide.
In 2024, seven people were killed on Oklahoma roads over Labor Day weekend, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Five of those deaths involved alcohol or drugs.
"This one night of bad decisions can affect your life and several other people's lives for years and years to come," Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Chad Pape told KFOR on Aug. 24, when the sobriety campaign launched ahead of the holiday.
