A Saturday evening drive on Interstate 35 turned fatal when a 34-year-old Oklahoma City woman's vehicle left the southbound lanes and collided with a train car in southeast Oklahoma City.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, two vehicles were traveling southbound on Interstate 35 near Southeast 15th Street when one vehicle hit the other from behind. The hit vehicle left the roadway to the right, then traveled down an embankment and across railroad tracks before crashing into a freight train car.
Oklahoma City police officers responded alongside OHP troopers, KOCO reported.
KFOR first reported the incident at about 7:30 p.m. Sept. 5. The railroad tracks involved sit near SE 11th Street and South High Avenue, beneath the I-35 overpass at a railyard, according to KFOR.
Southbound I-35 traffic stalled after the collision. Authorities urged drivers to steer clear of the area Saturday evening.
OHP has not released the woman's name.
