Oklahoma City's snowplow fleet has new names, and residents picked them.

KOKH published 41 names selected for the city’s winter-weather fleet, chosen by public vote from submissions by metro-area residents. The names draw on local sports, landmarks, food, pop culture and plenty of wordplay.

"The top names for our snowplow fleet have been selected by popular vote, and we're ready to introduce our winter weather crew," the City of OKC said on X.

The city had invited residents to submit names through its vision.okc.gov/snowplows page, with a deadline of Oct. 16. A press release published Oct. 6 encouraged "fun, clever, OKC-inspired names" in categories including local landmarks, Thunder and local sports, Oklahoma pride, the food scene and snowy wordplay.

The results lean hard into puns. Highlights from the final roster include Thundersnow, Boomer Scooper, Snowby Keith, Reba McEnsnowtire, Sleetwood Mac, Snowbi-Wan Kenobi, Sir Plows-a-Lot, Ctrl+Salt+Delete and Plowasaurus Rex. Others nod to local geography: The Snowklahoman, Scissortail Snowcatcher, Get Your Slicks on Route 66 and Plowza District. The full list is available through KOKH's report.

A batch of names at the bottom of the list plays on beet and brine themes: We Got the Beet, The Beet Goes On, Let the Beet Drop and Optimus Brine among them.

The city's Oct. 6 press release described a 34-plow fleet, but the final named list contains 41 entries, according to KOKH. Neither KOKH’s report nor the city’s Oct. 6 announcement explains the difference.

Beyond the names, the city said it plans to launch an online map once winter weather arrives. The map will show where snowplows have operated, share driving tips and let residents check snow route status.
