Families in Edmond can walk a lit forest trail and collect candy at Storybook Forest, which opened Friday, Oct. 23, at Arcadia Lake's Spring Creek Park.
The event runs nightly through Friday, Oct. 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 7200 E. 15th St., weather permitting, according to the City of Edmond's event page.
Presented by the city's Arcadia Lake division and Edmond Electric, Storybook Forest sends children down a well-lit path through the woods to visit life-size scenes inspired by classic children's stories and collect candy along the way. The city describes it as a safe alternative to traditional trick-or-treating, with no ghouls or goblins on the trail.
Scenes include recreations of The Three Little Pigs and other familiar tales. The city's civic alert also lists Rapunzel among the featured stories, while the official event page names The Little Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe.
Beyond the trail, families can roast hotdogs and s'mores at campfires, listen to stories in a reading tent, play carnival games and take a hayride.
