Three people are dead and a fourth is in critical condition after four major crashes struck Oklahoma City in a 24-hour span, prompting the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) to issue a public safety advisory on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The crashes unfolded at four locations across the city between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, according to the OKPD advisory. Police are asking the public for help identifying the driver in one of the incidents, a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian critically injured.

The motorcycle crash happened Monday just before 3 p.m. with a fatal motorcycle crash at Southeast 29th Street and Eastern Avenue. A motorcycle collided with a truck, KOCO 5 reported. The rider was initially listed in critical condition but has since died, according to the OKPD advisory.

At some point within the same 24-hour window, a hit-and-run driver struck a pedestrian near 600 SW 59th St. The victim was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries. The advisory did not include a suspect or vehicle description.

Two more fatal pedestrian crashes followed Tuesday morning.

Around 5:14 a.m., a driver hit a pedestrian near South Rockwell Avenue and West Reno Avenue, OKC Fox reported. The driver stayed at the scene. The victim was taken to a hospital and later died.

Around 7 a.m., a vehicle struck a man in a wheelchair near Southeast 42nd Street and Shields Boulevard, OKC Fox reported. The victim died at a hospital. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. The victim's identity has not been released.

In its advisory, the OKPD urged drivers, motorcyclists and pedestrians to stay alert, avoid distractions and follow traffic laws. Capt. Ben Weir is the department's media contact for the incidents.

Oklahoma ranks 10th nationally for traffic fatality rates, according to a report by TRIP, a nonprofit transportation research group. The state averaged 1.35 traffic deaths per 100 million miles driven in 2025, above the national rate of 1.10, OKC Fox reported.
