Two men face $1 million bonds each after Oklahoma City police linked them to the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old in northeast Oklahoma City.

The suspects, ages 24 and 29, were arrested Oct. 2 in Midwest City on complaints of first-degree murder and committing a gang-related offense as a condition for gang membership, KFOR reported. No formal charges have been filed. As of Oct. 5, both men were being held in the Oklahoma County Jail, according to KOCO.

The arrests came two months after the killing of Knowledge Dewayne Johnson. According to an Oklahoma City Police Department release, officers responded to reports of gunfire at 3:08 a.m. Aug. 1 at an apartment complex at 201 NE 11th St., near Walnut Avenue. Officers found Johnson lying on a sidewalk outside. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Johnson's death was the city's 43rd homicide of 2026, according to Oklahoma City Free Press. At the time, police had no suspects and asked the public for help.

Court documents show investigators found a cell phone left at the scene, KOCO reported. Surveillance video showing the suspects' vehicle also helped police identify the two men. Police allege both suspects have gang affiliations tied to the case and claim they belonged to a gang that rivaled the victim's, according to KOCO.

One of the two suspects faces a longer list of complaints beyond the murder and gang-related counts. Those include carrying or possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, distribution of a controlled substance and possessing with intent, acquiring proceeds from drug activities, use of a firearm while committing a felony, and receiving or concealing stolen property, according to KFOR.

News 9 reported that no official charges had been filed as of Oct. 5. No arraignment or formal charging date has been announced.
