Joshua Kingsland was asleep with his wife and daughter when an SUV crashed through their southwest Oklahoma City bedroom early Thursday, Oct. 1.

Kingsland suffered knocked-out teeth, a swollen jaw, severely bruised lungs and minor chest bleeding, he told KFOR, which first reported the story. His wife also sustained minor injuries.

Security cameras on the home captured the driver trying to leave the scene. Kingsland did not wait for help.

"I just hopped in my car, and I chased her down, and she tried to escape on foot, and I held her, held her till the police came," Kingsland told KFOR.

Neighbor Mark Lopez said he saw the SUV swerving down the street before hearing a loud crash. He said he first thought the vehicle had struck a telephone pole before realizing it had hit Kingsland's house. Lopez pointed Kingsland toward the fleeing driver.

Kingsland said the bedroom was buried in rubble from the force of the impact. His daughter was also in the room. Her specific condition was not addressed in the KFOR report, though the station noted everyone in the room was described as okay.

The driver's identity has not been made public. It is unclear whether charges have been filed.

The Oklahoma City Police Department (OCPD) had not released a full accident report as of Thursday, Oct. 1, according to KFOR. The station reported it had reached out to OCPD and was still waiting for a response.

Repairs to the Kingsland home were already underway as of Thursday, KFOR reported. No timeline for completion was available.
