Oklahoma City fire crews resumed a search-and-recovery operation at Lake Stanley Draper on Aug. 24 after a man went into the water from a jet ski Sunday night and never resurfaced.

Firefighters on scene indicated they expected the effort to transition to a body recovery, KOKH FOX 25 reported. KOKH reporter Sophia Cabrera was at the lake Monday morning as the search continued.

The incident began around 9:30 p.m. Aug. 23, when first responders were called to the southeast Oklahoma City lake. Witnesses told authorities an adult male had been jet skiing when he went into the water and did not come back up, according to KOCO.

Accounts differ on the life jacket. KOCO reported witnesses said the man removed his life jacket before jumping in. KFOR, citing an Oklahoma City Police Department spokesperson, reported the man may not have been wearing a life jacket when he entered the water.

Both the Oklahoma City Police Department and the Oklahoma City Fire Department responded to the scene Sunday night. Multiple search boats were deployed on the lake, and the police department's helicopter circled overhead to assist from the air.

As of 10:25 p.m. Sunday, crews were still actively searching, KFOR reported. The search was suspended overnight and resumed Monday morning.

The man's identity has not been released. Authorities had not confirmed as of Monday morning whether the search had yielded a recovery.
