Retired Midwest City Police Sgt. Tiffany Metzger died Aug. 26, after a long battle with cancer, her department announced.

Metzger, who held badge No. 180, died at approximately 6:03 p.m. surrounded by family, the Midwest City Police Department said in a social media post. She served the department for eight years as a patrol officer and crime lab technician.

The department remembered Metzger as a champion for young people, saying she advocated for children in every aspect of her work and loved being a voice for them. The statement also expressed gratitude to the Sanders family for the love, support and care they provided Metzger throughout her life, KOCO reported.

No details about memorial services or funeral arrangements have been announced as of Aug. 28.
