Mount Saint Mary High School swept Oklahoma Christian School 3-0 on Saturday, Oct. 17, to claim the OSSAA Class 4A state volleyball championship at Claremore High School.

The Rockets did not drop a single set across three tournament matches. Mount St. Mary beat Weatherford 3-0 in Thursday, Oct. 15, quarterfinals, topped Victory Christian 3-0 in Friday, Oct. 16, semifinals and then handled OCS in Saturday's final, according to The Oklahoman's state tournament scoreboard.

It was an all-OKC-metro final. Both schools sit inside the metro, and the championship guaranteed a local program would bring home the 4A title.

OCS reached the final with a 3-0 quarterfinal win over Holland Hall and a 3-1 semifinal victory against Heritage Hall, the No. 2 team in a recent 4A poll. But the Saints could not solve the Rockets in the title match.

Mount St. Mary entered the season as the overwhelming No. 1 team in the first 4A poll, collecting 14 first-place votes after dropping down from Class 5A, OKC Friday reported. The Rockets finished as 5A runners-up to McGuinness last year.

Junior Blair Smith, whom OKC Friday identified as the state’s kills leader entering the tournament, paced the Rockets' attack all season. In a 4A regional final win over Blanchard on Monday, Oct. 5, Smith posted 12 kills and two blocks, according to OKC Friday. Sophomore Jentri Denwalt collected five kills and 30 assists in that match, while sophomore Sophia Bass added 13 digs and a service ace.

The Rockets carried a 31-9 record into the state tournament with just one senior on the roster, reserve player Desiya Williams, according to OKC Friday's tournament preview. Juniors Smith and Isabella Williams and sophomores Denwalt and Bass formed the core of a young lineup.

"We really try to stay focused on the task at hand," Rockets coach James Ward told OKC Friday ahead of the state tournament. "We believe we've done everything possible to prepare for this moment."

The two teams met earlier in the season, with Mount St. Mary rallying from a first-set loss to beat OCS 3-1, according to OKC Friday. Smith had 25 kills in that match, and Williams added 23.

Saturday's rematch was more decisive. The Rockets' 3-0 sweep completed a dominant tournament run and delivered the program its 4A state title in its first season after moving down from Class 5A.

Community Christian also won a state title Saturday at Claremore, defeating Cascia Hall 3-0 in the Class 3A championship, according to @okhsscores on X.
