Kian Floranda drilled a field goal in the final seconds on Friday, Sept. 25. His kick gave Carl Albert a 17-16 win over Guthrie, tying the all-time Oklahoma 11-man football winning streak at 58 games.

The Class 5A district game at Gary Rose Field was the second straight week Floranda delivered a walk-off kick for the Titans, ranked No. 1 in the Class 5A poll. On Friday, Sept. 18, he hit the game-winner with no time left as Carl Albert rallied from a 21-7 halftime deficit to beat Del City 31-28 on the road, according to The Oklahoman.

Floranda delivered again.

Against No. 7 Guthrie in the Class 5A poll, the Titans again found themselves trailing. Carl Albert went into halftime down 13-7, according to Sports Illustrated.

The Titans scored a touchdown and added the extra point in the fourth quarter to take a 14-13 lead. Guthrie answered with a field goal to go ahead 16-14 in the closing moments before Floranda's boot settled the matter.

The 58-game streak ties the mark Bixby set from the 2018 season through 2022. The Spartans' run ended with a 38-35 nationally televised loss to Jenks.

Carl Albert's streak dates to September 2022, when the Titans lost 35-28 at home to Muskogee. They opened the run the following week with a 45-2 rout of Elk City and have not lost since, according to Sports Illustrated. The program has won nine state championships in the last 10 seasons and holds a record 20 gold balls overall, The Oklahoman reported.

The Midwest City program, part of the Mid-Del school district, went 14-0 last season to claim the Class 5A title. Head coach Mike Dunn is in his sixth year leading the Titans. In a team preview published Sept. 8, Dunn described his squad as a group that works "like they're starving for more" despite nine titles in 10 years.

Carl Albert (5-0) can claim the record outright on Friday, Oct. 2, when the Titans travel to Noble. Noble improved to 2-3 after beating Duncan 24-17 on Friday, Sept. 25.
