Carl Albert erased a 14-point deficit and beat Del City 31-28 on Friday, Sept. 18, to push its winning streak to 57 games.
The Titans trailed 21-7 at halftime in the Class 5A Mid-Del rivalry game, according to the Midwest City Beacon. Del City standout Kaleb Blackwolf scored four touchdowns to keep the Eagles ahead for most of the night, Yahoo Sports reported. Carl Albert had fallen behind by 14 before mounting its comeback, the Tulsa World reported.
Carl Albert outscored Del City in the second half to take the lead. The final score gave the Titans their 57th consecutive victory, the second-longest 11-man winning streak in Oklahoma high school football history.
The streak now sits one win short of tying Bixby's all-time state record.
Head coach Mike Dunn, in his sixth season at Carl Albert, described his returning squad in the team's July season preview as a group that works "like they're starving for more" despite winning the 2025 state title.
Carl Albert entered 2026 coming off a 14-0 season and its 20th state championship. Senior running back Delijah Matthews, the reigning Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year, rushed for 1,966 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns last season and holds 10 Division I offers. Senior quarterback Anderson Collier threw for 2,248 yards and 25 touchdowns with zero interceptions in 2025. Senior receiver Jacson Webster, who fueled the Week 1 win over Tulsa Booker T. Washington, caught 56 passes for 887 yards and 11 touchdowns last year.
Del City entered the game riding five straight seasons of nine-plus wins, totaling 51 victories over that stretch. Blackwolf, who scored five touchdowns including an overtime game-winner in last year's playoff win over Booker T. Washington, gave the Eagles their best punch against the Titans. His four-touchdown performance had Carl Albert trailing before the second-half comeback.
The Titans opened the season with a win over Tulsa Booker T. Washington in Week 1, then survived Bishop McGuinness 20-8 in Week 2 after forcing a fumble and returning it for a game-sealing touchdown.
Carl Albert hosts Guthrie on Friday, Sept. 25. A win would tie Bixby's all-time 11-man Oklahoma record. Guthrie enters at 2-2 after beating Blanchard 49-7 in Week 3, according to The Oklahoman.
